La Valletta

I absolutely love Malta!! I finally got to go out to a place my mother was soooo jealous about. nananananaaaaaa. Yes i have an amazing job. I get to experience so many cultures in such a small amount of time and go places people only dream of or a few manage to actually get to. Life is good. I am starting to get along with every one so good. i love my team such great girls. My boy isn't too bad himself and if i'm lucky I should be able to spend a few minutes with him in town.
We started with a walk through the town. From the ship we can easily get there with the lift. It is walking distance to the port, a few minutes and about 2 euros to use. Takes you to the gardens close to the city center. The gardens have canons from the olden time. placed there to protect the city. The gardens are on many levels and well maintained, you have a beautiful view of the harbor and cities on the other side. Such a great photo spot!
The city's buildings are from the past centuries. A beautiful blend of French, Arabic and Spanish architecture which works so well. It makes walking through the streets such a pleasure. Little cobble stone path ways up and down the old city. Just a magical place to be. The cathedral there is something not to miss. A real feast for the eyes.

There are street artists and artisans everywhere. The smell of great food being prepared is in the air as you walk past little local restaurants.

After we get to the bus and do a little panoramic drive through the area. Malta has kept so many traditions and ancient morals but its people are full of life, so open and friendly. As i said, a magical place.

Mdina is well maintained and the old capital of Malta. It is more inland so you have a chance to visit the "suburbs". I really enjoyed it. I liked walking through the tiny cobble streets that lead to the huge  St Paul's Cathedral in the center of the town. You can feel the strong influence of the Templar's Knights and in the cathedral have the proof of their existence on the island as the name of many knights were on the cathedral's floor in-scripted in big slabs of marble.
So uniquely beautiful. Now I didn't understand if they were actual tombs or just the name of the knights buried on the island. And I also don't understand why I only ask myself about it now... I normally like to find out everything so it is strange to me that i went back to the ship without the answer. Actually wait... i'm going to go and google it now!

Ok so found my answer: ( The floor of the nave is almost covered with marble tomb stones, under which around 390 knights were buried.) So yes, you will be walking on dead people... A lot of dead people and you will love it.
Lots of history in Malta, many fascinating stories. If you have a good guide here or just make an effort to really discover these stories, you will not be able to have nothing but admiration and a little envy towards this island.

In summer here, going to the beach must be such a treat. Already the water around the port is ridiculously turquoise and beautiful, the beaches on the island must offer a pretty unforgettable experience. Full of marine life and just pure bliss.

Malta for sure I will be back. I always felt a little like a pirate, like a wanderer through life, and all the stories from the island's many great travelers, inhabitants and such, I really felt at peace and kinda at home there.
And in the end, I even had time to get changed quickly, go back to the town  and find him, not without a struggle.. Boys, when some one asks you were you are don't state the obvious... I'm in town, that's great where???? Close to the gardens? The center? Name of the place you are at and indication of what might be easy to find around there. So that we can find you easier and not lose our mind trying to figure out where you have been hiding. Honestly otherwise I would't ask! I would just wonder around like a headless chicken until I find you without paying to much thought about it!

But in the end, we got to run around the town for a while and discover all its beauty. We also manage to find a decapitated Van Gogh! And the fact that he new who he was and what he looked like so quick made me really look at him at that instance and realize that he was just so much more than what was at the surface that I couldn't wait to discover it all...

I think that, as silly as it sounds, was the moment I realize I was starting to really like him. oh shit!
